Our issues
PRO PRIVACY
We believe every American has the right to control their personal information. Yet, today’s digital infrastructure often fall short of that standard. While federal lawmakers have proposed promising measures like the DELETE Act and the Genomic Data Privacy Act, meaningful privacy protections remain out of reach for most Americans.
Without strong safeguards, millions are left vulnerable and exposed to exploitation, misuse, and with little recourse. Our coalition is working to change that. We’re building public awareness, advocating for smart and forward thinking change, and demanding systems that are secure, transparent, and accountable to the people that they serve.
ANTI-DATA BROKER
Data brokers profit from the unchecked collections and sale of Americans’ most sensitive personal information and often without their knowledge or consent.
Operating largely in the shadows, these companies buy and sell data from countless sources, creating detailed profiles on millions of Americans across the country. While states like California, Vermont, Texas, and Oregon have begun requiring data brokers to register and provide opt-out options for users, federal protections remain dangerously weak.
Most recently the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) rescinded a proposed rule to regulate data brokers under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), leaving your personally identifiable information (PII), like Social Security numbers, passport numbers, and biometric data, even more exposed.
We are calling out the harmful practices of this industry, spotlighting critical gaps in policy and oversight, and building momentum for reforms that bring transparency, accountability, and control back into your hands
